Lacrosse Performance Objectives 

 

Upon completion of the Lacrosse Unit, the students will be able to:

1 Demonstrate the throwing mechanics of lacrosse, using proper form.

2 Demonstrate the proper scooping mechanics used in lacrosse.

3 Demonstrate the proper mechanics used in catching a lacrosse ball.

4 Demonstrate the proper strategies used during game play.

5 Identify terms relating to the basic skills of lacrosse: Throwing, Catching, Scooping, Cradling, etc.

6 Discuss or describe terms commonly used in lacrosse: Pocket, Goal, Crease, Offense, etc.

7 Discuss or describe the tactics involved in the placing of the ball, analyzing opponents, etc.

8 List rules relating to lacrosse (checking, dodging, mens and womens rules, etc.)

9 Identify or describe historical names, dates, and places relating to lacrosse.

10 Identify or describe the positions used by teams during game play. i.e., goalie, attack, defense, etc.

11 Identify or describe safety conditions and devices.

12 Demonstrate the basic knowledge of the game through implementation of skills during game play.

13 Apply the rules relating to lacrosse in a game situation. (playing and officiating).

14 Display acceptable sportsmanship, social skills, and lacrosse etiquette.

15 Meet all of the physical education expectations as stated in the syllabus.

16 Describe the proper and improper care of equipment.
